WEDDG began the operation of formulating the albums songs on a concept which lead to a writing process that eventually became an entire album. Each of the songs on "From the Ruins" is music that is about music; that is, it's lyrical and musical content in every song is in someway related to music itself. For Example: The Call to War was written about standing up for and getting into your music. The People Under the Stairs is a double entendre, one meaning, for the movie of the same title, and secondly if re-spelled (stares), being alone under stage lights and feeling the pressure of performance expectations as well as pleading for a break in the business. Each song holds its own theme but is inherently related to the same concept.

For two years, this album was written and practiced; and much of it, played live. At seemingly every attempt to break and record it, WEDDG ran into snag after roadblock. Reforming a few times and then again taking away from recording to play more shows. At the end of 2007 it was finally decided that WEDDG would record the CD and release it at all costs. After the reforming and roadblocks, the name "From the Ruins" was decided upon as a signification of the bands current formation, WEDDG had been created from the ruins of itself and its members pasts.
